Leslye has been a freelance copywriter and marketing communications consultant since 1997. Under the tagline “language arts for business,” she provides strategic concepting, messaging and content development, helping companies to tell their stories with authentic, compelling voices. She works on both consumer and business-to-business campaigns, with a focus on technology companies. She also devotes a regular percentage of her time to pro bono projects for world-changing organizations with big hearts and small budgets. Before starting her own business, Leslye worked in the corporate sector for 15 years and was director of marketing and sales for a photonics manufacturer. Her first career was as a teacher, for Head Start, preschool and kindergarten kids. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in educational psychology and a Master's degree in communications.
Leslye was a Global Citizen Journey delegate to Nigeria in 2005, fulfilling a lifelong dream to visit Africa. She was deeply moved by the experience and looks forward to engaging more deeply with the people and the complex issues in the Niger Delta. She’s passionate about storytelling and is wildly excited to be part of bringing the untold stories of this region to the screen. Leslye is currently working with a few GCJ alums on getting a microlending program started for the women of Oporoza and the surrounding community.
